This 7,000 sq. ft. residence in Sparta, New Jersey, underwent a striking metamorphosis under the vision of DbC Studio. The goal was to transform a traditionally styled home into a modern, open-concept retreat, one that honors its classical architecture while embracing a refined, global perspective.

The guiding theme, “Perspective”, reflects the homeowner’s extensive travel and cultural exposure. Every room was designed as a visual dialogue between tradition and modernity, where symmetry meets interpretation, and pairs of seemingly similar artworks or furnishings reveal subtle distinctions upon closer view. The concept invites contemplation: no single perspective tells the full story.

A defining feature of this home’s redesign was DbC Studio’s one room, one use philosophy. Each space intentionally purposed to serve a distinct function and mood. The music room celebrates focus and creativity, the dining area invites quiet connection, and the media and game rooms embody leisure and escape. This clarity of function establishes rhythm and balance, ensuring that every room feels both purposeful and deeply personal.

DbC Studio restructured the interiors to introduce light, flow, and spatial continuity. Marble floors replace dark hardwoods, creating luminous pathways that unify the living areas. The double-height great room now balances grandeur with calm restraint, anchored by the original stone fireplace, reframed through a palette of cool neutrals, layered textures, and curated modern art.

The kitchen was reinvented in white and gold, blending elegance with functionality. A clean architectural rhythm extends through the dining and music rooms, where high-contrast tones and sculptural lighting define sophistication. The master suite, with its warm ceiling glow and columned lounge area, serves as a quiet sanctuary, where the home’s dual identity, classic and contemporary, comes fully into focus.
